Surrey Police Service releases 2022 Strategic Plan

The new Surrey Police Service has released its 2022 Strategic Plan as the force goes on a hiring spree and transitions service for the municipality from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The RCMP remains in place for the time-being.  But as a sign of things to come, the Surrey Police Service has already applied to join many of the integrated Lower Mainland specialty units, on the same basis as other municipalities with their own police forces or covered by the RCMP.

Chief Constable Norm Lipinski steadfastly stands by the Surrey Police Service's first strategic plan, in the face of lingering criticism:

Integration of new SPS members with RCMP patrols still going well, and general community seems to like the new police force, especially its diversity, and connections to the Indo-Canadian community.

Avtar Johl has been appointed the municipal representative on the new Surrey Police Board, an appointment running to the end of the year.  A police board for a municipal police is a requirement under provincial legislation.
