10-8 on On Patrol, The History of the Essex County, Ontario, Canada Police Services Book

Well after about ten years long years of research, and a lot of assistance and support from Mike Stoltz, my retirement project is finally about ready to come to fruition! In two weeks I will be having a limited quantity of the book entitled "10-8 on Patrol", The History of the Essex County, Ontario Canada Police Services printed. I have researched and highlighted thirty agencies that at one time were police services within Essex County Ontario. I knew how to write a police report, but I had no idea what it entailed to record and layout a history book documenting the history, as well as photos of the insignia worn or used by each agency.

Mike Stoltz as you well know is an old pro when it came to putting this together and I am sure there were times when he needed tylenol (or stronger) to deal with the headaches that I caused him! In the book I have also thanked CPICA and various members who allowed me to photograph insignia from their collection to be used in this project or provided me information. So I thank you for that! Ands I apologize if anyone was left out that helped.

Keeping true to my word I always wanted a history book of Essex County, printed and produced within Essex County. It is costing me a bit more, but the outfit that is finishing this publication for me is located just doors away from where the old Walkerville Town Hall was situated on Devonshire Road in Walkerville (now Windsor). And proud to say it was printed and made here as I wanted to do all along.

I know several collectors have indicated an interest in a copy of the book. The book is 300 pages and I will be producing black and white copies ($35 each tax included) and colour copies ($48.00 each tax included) Due to the Canada Post strike, I have no idea what it would cost to ship out. Or if you decide to purchase a copy and paid via transfer, I could hold them for the next CPICA show or possibly arrange something else depending on where you are located before then.

Either way if you feel that you have an interest in the book, could you please send me an email indicating which book you would prefer. As I am only producing 100 copies at this time I would like to get close to the approximate amounts of each version of the book people have requested. It is not allowing me to upload sample photos from the book at this time.   (email dave.dean@sympatico.ca)

Thanks to everyone for their interest and support.

Cheers

Dave
